Big R Holdings, Inc. and its affiliated companies and brands, collectively referred to as “Big R,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” respect your privacy. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you:

Visit or make purchases through BigROnline.com;
Shop at a Big R retail store;
Create an account;
Participate in the Big R Insider Loyalty Program;
Subscribe to email or text-message communications;
Use delivery, shipping, curbside pickup, or buy-online-pick-up-in-store services;
Contact customer service;
Enter a promotion, contest, survey, or event; or
Otherwise interact with Big R.
This Privacy Notice applies to information collected online and offline. It does not apply to information collected from Big R employees, job applicants, or contractors in an employment context.

Depending on how you interact with Big R, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

Information we collect automatically

When you visit our website or use our online services, our service providers and we may automatically collect certain information about your device and your interactions with our website. This information may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, referring website, pages viewed, products viewed, search terms, shopping cart activity, interactions with advertisements, and other browsing activity.

We collect this information through cookies, pixels, web beacons, log files, and similar technologies to operate our website, improve functionality, analyze website performance, personalize your experience, measure advertising effectiveness, detect fraud, and support other legitimate business purposes.

 

Contact and identification information

This may include your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, telephone number, account username, customer number, and other identifiers.

Transaction and payment information

This may include products purchased or returned, transaction dates, store location, order history, payment method, delivery information, receipts, warranties, rebate information, and information needed to process or prevent fraudulent transactions.

Payment-card information is generally processed by our payment-processing providers. Big R may receive transaction details, limited payment-card information, or payment tokens rather than complete payment-card numbers.

Account and loyalty information

This may include your Big R account information, Big R Insider membership information, loyalty identifiers, points or benefits, offers received or redeemed, store preferences, purchase history, product interests, and communication preferences.

Internet, device, and browsing information

This may include your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, device identifiers, referring website, pages viewed, searches conducted, products viewed, shopping-cart activity, interactions with advertisements, and email or text-message engagement.

Location information

We may collect general location information based on your IP address, shipping address, preferred store, or device settings. We will collect precise geolocation information only when permitted by law and when necessary for a feature you request.

Customer-service and communication information

This may include emails, telephone calls, chat messages, product reviews, survey responses, support requests, warranty claims, and other communications with Big R.

Promotion and event information

This may include information you provide when entering contests, sweepstakes, surveys, rebates, sponsorship activities, events, or other promotions.

Fraud-prevention and security information

This may include device, account, transaction, payment-risk, authentication, and behavioral information used to detect fraud, card testing, unauthorized activity, security incidents, and violations of our policies.

Information obtained from other sources

We may receive information from service providers, shipping and delivery companies, advertising and analytics providers, social-media platforms, payment processors, fraud-prevention providers, loyalty providers, and other business partners.

 

2. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

Create and maintain customer accounts;
Operate the Big R Insider Loyalty Program;
Provide loyalty benefits, personalized offers, and product recommendations;
Communicate about orders, accounts, deliveries, recalls, and warranties;

Provide customer service;
Improve our stores, website, products, and services;
Conduct analytics and measure advertising effectiveness;
Personalize website and advertising content;

Mobile information

The above excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

 

4. Targeted Advertising and Advertising-Related Disclosures

Big R and its advertising and analytics partners may use cookies, pixels, tags, software development kits, and similar technologies to collect information about your activity on our website and interactions with our advertisements.

The Big R website uses cookies to help keep track of items you put into your shopping cart, including when you have abandoned your cart, and this information is used to determine when to send cart reminder messages via SMS.

This information may be used to:

Measure website traffic and advertising performance;
Understand how customers use our website;
Create or select advertising audiences;
Show advertisements based on browsing activity or inferred interests;
Limit the number of times an advertisement is shown; and
Measure whether an advertisement resulted in a visit or purchase.
Certain disclosures of personal information to advertising and analytics partners may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or processing for “targeted advertising” under applicable state privacy laws, even when no money is exchanged.

You may opt out of these activities as described in the Your Privacy Choices section below.

Big R does not knowingly sell personal information for money. However, because privacy laws define “sale” and “sharing” differently, we provide customers with the ability to opt out of applicable advertising-related disclosures.

 

5. Your Privacy Choices

Advertising and cookie preferences

You may manage nonessential cookies and advertising technologies through the Your Privacy Choices link located in the footer of BigROnline.com.

Your choices may be specific to the browser and device you use. You may need to renew your preferences if you clear your cookies, change browsers, or use another device.

Universal opt-out signals

Where required by applicable law, Big R processes recognized browser-based universal opt-out signals, including Global Privacy Control, as requests to opt out of the sale of personal data or its use for targeted advertising.

The signal will ordinarily apply to the browser or device from which it is received. When permitted and technically feasible, we may associate the request with your account.

Colorado currently recognizes Global Privacy Control as a qualifying universal opt-out mechanism. 

Email marketing

You may unsubscribe from promotional email by using the unsubscribe link included in an email. You may continue to receive nonpromotional messages concerning orders, accounts, safety notices, warranties, or other transactions.

Text-message marketing

You may opt out of promotional text messages by replying STOP to a Big R message or by following the instructions in our Mobile Terms of Service. Message and data rates may apply.

 

6. Big R Insider Loyalty Program

Participation in the Big R Insider Loyalty Program is voluntary and is not required to make a purchase.

When you enroll, we may collect your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, loyalty identifier, preferred store, purchase history, offer activity, and communication preferences.

We use this information to:

Create and administer your loyalty account;
Provide program discounts, rewards, and benefits;
Track qualifying purchases and redemptions;
Send program and account communications;
Provide offers and recommendations;
Understand program participation; and
Improve the Big R Insider program.
We may provide loyalty information to service providers that operate or support the program. We do not provide mobile opt-in information to third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Where required by law, we will obtain consent before using loyalty information for a materially different purpose or for targeted advertising. Exercising certain privacy rights may affect our ability to administer your account or provide program benefits. For example, deleting the necessary information to identify your account may result in the closure of the account and loss of unused benefits.

You may leave the Big R Insider Loyalty Program by contacting us using the methods listed below.

We will use the email address you provide during checkout to communicate with you about your order. We will enroll you in the Big R Insider Loyalty Program only when you choose to join or when enrollment is otherwise clearly disclosed and permitted by applicable law.

 

7. State Privacy Rights

Depending on your state of residence and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to:

Confirm whether we process your personal information;
Access personal information we maintain about you;
Correct inaccuracies;
Request deletion;
Obtain a portable copy of certain personal information;
Opt out of targeted advertising;
Opt out of the sale of personal information;
Opt out of certain profiling activities;
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
Appeal a decision concerning your privacy request.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you because you exercised a privacy right.

Please describe your request and provide enough information for us to identify the records involved. We may ask you to verify your identity before completing a request. We will use information provided for verification only to process and document the request.

An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law. We may require proof of the agent’s authority and may contact the consumer directly to confirm the request.

Appeals

If we deny your request, you may appeal our decision by emailing custservonline@mybigr.com with the subject line “Privacy Request Appeal.” Include the request number and a brief explanation of why you believe the decision should be reconsidered.

We will respond within the time required by applicable law and provide information about any additional complaint rights available to you.

 

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Notice, including to:

Complete transactions and provide requested services;
Maintain accounts and loyalty-program participation;
Meet tax, accounting, warranty, recall, and recordkeeping obligations;
Prevent fraud and maintain security;
Resolve disputes;
Enforce agreements; and
Establish or defend legal claims.
Retention periods vary depending on the type of information, the relationship involved, operational requirements, and applicable legal obligations.

When personal information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, de-identify, or securely dispose of it.

 

9. Children's Privacy

Big R's website and online services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from children under 13 without appropriate parental notice and consent. If we become aware that we have collected personal information online from a child under 13 without the required authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.

Parents or legal guardians who believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to Big R may contact us using the information provided in the Contact Us section of this Privacy Notice.

Certain Big R programs, promotions, community events, or agricultural activities may involve minors. In those situations, information about a minor may be submitted by a parent, legal guardian, school, agricultural organization, or another authorized adult for the purpose of administering the applicable program or activity.

 

10. Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no website, transmission, database, or system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Customers are responsible for keeping account credentials confidential and should contact us promptly if they believe their account or information has been compromised.

We may update this Privacy Notice periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, services, or legal obligations.

When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date. Where required, we may also provide notice through our website, by email, through an account notification, or by another legally permitted method.
